FlashBack Friday Part 2: Apple’s Past iPhone Event Invitations

With the iPhone Event invitations out for Wednesday I thought it would be cool to look at the past iPhone and iOS invitations.

WWDC 2007: The Original iPhone

The Original iPhone will always reign to me as the best iPhone. Not as far as specs go but with design. I feel the best design for the iPhone was the aluminum brushed with plastic we all saw at WWDC in 2007.I got one last year of eBay and yes I do still use it. As far as updates go the iPhone was killed at 3.1.3 but has not been forgotten.

WWDC 2008: iPhone 3G and the App Store

If you were like me the original iPhone was to expensive when it first launched at 500 dollars for the low model. Therfor you were waiting for the next generation to come quickly and hopefully with a lower price tag. When Steve Jobs told us all about the iPhone 3G and the App Store I went crazy! The iPhone 3G was my first iPhone and I still have one with me. The iPhone 3G was killed at iOS 4.2.

iPhone OS 3.0 Event

The iPhone OS 3.0 event brought the world iPhone OS 3.0. To me the event was not as impressive as I would have liked but was still okay. Right around then I started to get interested in Apple.

WWDC 2009: The iPhone 3Gs

At WWDC 2009 the world was given the iPhone 3Gs that is still around with us for probably only a few weeks now. The 3Gs brought a faster processor and video recording to the iPhone.

WWDC 2010: iPhone 4 iOS 4

WWDC brought us the iPhone 4 which was famously bought by Gizmodo and leaked on the internet before the initial launch. The form is still being used in iPhone’s today and will be brought probably to the next iPhone as well with some added features. iOS 4 brought folders and multitasking to the world of iOS.

Lets Talk iPhone: iPhone 4s

The famous let’s talk iPhone event was the last iPhone event before Steve Job’s passed away. The event was supposed to be home to the iPhone 5 but we got the 4s instead with Siri.

September 12: iOS 6 and iPhone 5

Apple’s September event still remains somewhat of a mystery. However we can be sure that the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 will be launched. to follow the iPhone 5 rumors click here. Remember we will have live coverage on twitter (@matthewjagiela) and here on the site as well.

Apple: A Year In Review

Apple had a really big year. So I thought I would go into everything Apple did in 2011. Well not everything but the big things. So let’s get started.

iPad 2

The iPad 2 has been an amazing hit for Apple, and it still is. First announced by Steve Jobs on March 2nd 2011 I didn’t think that it would be such a hit along with many. On release date on March 11th I saw it would be an instant hit. It has turned out everyone wants one. At a point more people wanted an iPad 2 than world piece. It is a great product and when the new one get’s released it will be even better. Good work Apple.

Lawsuits, Lawsuits, and more Lawsuits,

This is a thing I don’t really want to mention but I feel like I have to. This year Apple went a little patent lawsuit crazy. Going after samsung copying the iPad 2. Android Manufactures so many I can’t list them but a quick google search should be able to find you this information. Apple has won over HTC in the US banning some phones from resale. Most older handsets not even for sale anymore. We will have to see how the rest of this plays out.

Lion

Mac OS X lion. Loved by some hated by others. Lion first made it’s way on to ALL of our systems July 20th a near 5 months ago. The software was the first Mac OS to be offered as a download only. It brought features from iOS including Full Screen apps, Resume, auto-save, and most importantly to some the mac app store. The Mac App Store has ton’s of apps. All of Apple’s Apps are also on the store. Lion has been the #1 most downloaded for 5 months and still is. Good work Apple. Personally I love lion and it’s features. Watch my in depth video of Lion here.

iOS 5

iOS 5. The best mobile os update Apple has ever made. Brining iCloud to the world. Great style notifications. iMessage. All of these improving on the already great operating system we have for our iOS devices. It is great and with iOS 5 5.1 beta we will have to see what new things come in the OS when the new iPad hardware is released. Read my iOS 5 review here.

New Management

Steve Jobs after the iPhone announcement announced he could no longer be CEO of Apple as he just didn’t feel like he could do well enough of a job. Placed as the chairman of the board Tim Cook replaced him and is the Current CEO.

iPhone 4s

The iPhone 4s set new records for sales. Breaking the records of weekend sales selling 4 million units in the opening weekend shattering the iPhone 4’s 2 million sales. the iPhone 4s is doing wonders for Apple. With the new A5 processor and Siri. Read my iPhone 4s review here.

Siri

This deserves it’s own spot as it is the biggest reason if not the only reason the iPhone 4s is selling the way it is. Siri Apple’s iPhone voice intelligent system is great and is the base of most of the iPhone ads they are airing today. It is incredible and I want to see it make it’s way to the iPad 3 that should be announced in the next few months. Read my iPhone 4s review including Siri here.

Goodbye Steve…

This year we said goodbye to the man who made Apple run. From the Apple I all the way to the iPhone 5 (ill touch on this next) Steve was the heart of Apple. His legacy still lives in his products as we can see his visions in iOS and all the Apple products we use every day. From the Mac to the iPhone. Thank you Steve… For everything.

iPhone 5

The rumor of the iPhone 5 has been going on for a while now and is still to this day. This was supposed to be the iPhone to be released and not the iPhone 4s. It was said that the iPhone 5 was one of the final projects Steve had worked on. Scrapped at the last minute we didn’t see the mystical device and we are hoping to see it this year. The iPhone was said to have a 4 inch screen, LTE 4G, and a new form factor. The phone is said to have been scrapped due to supply shortages or a hardware problem. Apple releases iTunes 10.5.1 iTunes Match Launch today?

Today Apple has released iTunes 10.5.1  (Download link) to everyone. Yesterday Apple cleared out the developers iTunes match for what is the 4th time for developers and it seems today could be the day where everyone gets the service. iTunes match is the service for $25 a year allowing music to be stored in iCloud that isn’t downloaded from the iTunes store and through Music Files and CD’s (if anyone still uses CD’s) and pushes them to all your iCloud enabled devices. So will you use this service or is it just another thing to say “is useful but not for me”?

Apple releases iOS 4.0.1 beta to developers. Hopes to fix battery problems

Apple today had announced there was some battery bug problems and shortly after there is a new beta out for developers to download that will hopefully fix the poor battery problems! Also included in this update is multitouch gestures for original iPad users which I am sure some will be very happy about! Also iCloud document syncing errors so maybe we can share with Mac OS X now? So developers get downloading!

Will the iPad 2 get Siri?

There has been a lot of talk on if the iPad 2 will get siri or not. It seems to meet the requirements a microphone and the A5 processor so why isn’t it there and will we ever see it? Well there is a reason we haven’t seen it yet and a giant IF of the iPad getting it. Siri is right now in Beta testing for everyone with the iPhone 4S to get rid of all the problems in it and make it even better and to make sure servers are ready for it which haven’t been doing to well because they have already crashed. Also right now Siri is the biggest if not the only selling point to get the new iPhone. So will we ever see it for the iPad 2? Maybe but probably not. I think Apple is going to actually have Siri for iPad as a selling point of the iPad 3. Also remember Apple views the iPad differe’t than the iPhone they don’t expect it to be everywhere and you to need voice controls for it which is probably the reason the iPhone 3Gs- iPhone 4 voice controls aren’t there. So I think we will see it in the next model and if we are lucky maybe in a software update when beta on the iPhone 4S is done.

So there you go! How to make it so you can sync automatically with iTunes when your asleep or over wifi in general.
