Could this be the iPhone 5 home button?

20110913-103716.jpg

The image you see above made its way onto cultofmac and it is told to be the home button for the iPhone 5. Now if this is true then the rumors of the new capacitive home button is surely dead and that might just kill the capacitive volume buttons as well. Now you see above the little battery snapped circle? Yes that is the same as the iPhone through the iPhone 4 it makes sure the little plastic button comes back up so you can click it again to make start multitasking. Now if this is what the iPhone 5 home button is than it confuses me. You see if Apple were to keep the home button then why not make it the same one that has been on the iPhone for around 4-5 years now. It makes sense to keep the same home button and honestly it looks kinda stupid. I don’t know why they would get rid of the circle for sort of half circle if you want to call it that which makes me think it is a fake and someone once again is trying to make money of a product that hasn’t even been released yet. I don’t think Apple would make the home button look like that ever especially giving the fact that leaked supposed iPhone 5 image found in photo stream has a sort of oval home button or touch area makes me think this is even more fake. I could be wrong. Only time will tell.

iPhone 5 to only have 16/32GB?

The UK iPhone carrier vodaphone has leaked that the iPhone 5 might only be a 16/32GB capable device. The image you see above comes from the Vodaphone showing off a sort of MIFi type device and showing the compatible devices showing the current iPhone 4 models. That isn’t the thing though the site states the MIFi like device is compatible with the iPhone 5 white/black and 16/32GB. There is nothing saying there is a higher storage. So at least we will get a white iPhone 5 from the launch but we might have to wait another year for a 64Gb iPhone. Hey maybe Apple will surprise us during the music event with a 64Gb model! Never know.

Developers Can you Subscribe to iTunes Match?

Apple today has extended the number of Developers to subscribe to iTunes match the service which allows people to store imported MP3’s on iCloud and push them to all your devices. Now currently you have to be a developer to take part of this service and you have to currently be an Apple developer with iTunes 10.5 beta 8. Just hit the iTunes match and there will be a subscribe button. Yes you do have to pay the $25 a year when you subscribe and this is a United States only service. Let me know how it is in the comments or on twitter (@matthewjagiela)!

Apple tells Developers to get ready for iCloud backup and Restore

Well it seems we might see iOS 5 coming in a matter of weeks and the GM maybe even next week. It seems that Apple has told developers to get ready for backup and restore for iCloud.

iCloud introduces a smarter way for users to back up their info. It’s important to read the new iCloud Data Storage Guidelines to ensure that your app works best with iCloud Backup and Restore, available on iOS 5.

The statement above was posted on the developer portal for new news. So this seems like Apple is giving developers information that iCloud and iOS 5 is very very close to being done and that Developers should make sure that their apps work the best they can with iOS 5 and iCloud.

No Steve Jobs isn’t Dead [Twitter Rumors]

As one of the top stories surrounding Apples former CEO Steve Jobs CBS released a false statement saying that Steve Jobs had passed away.

“Reports say that Steve Jobs has passed away. Stay tuned for more updates.”

This comes from the CBS Trending Twitter feed and boy did everyone go crazy about it. But the Tweet was later removed and this one took its place.

“Reports of Steve Job’s [sic] death completely unconfirmed.”

Also CultOfMac talked to an Apple PR and they didn’t say that he has passed. So everyone stop worrying Steve is still with us.

Need more proof the iPhone is coming to Sprint?

20110909-044815.jpg

Well it seems that Sprint is definitely is going to be getting an iPhone and if not then this is really weird. It seems sprint is having a sort of “blackout” do to a major phone launch between September 30th and October 15th which fits in very nicely with the current iPhone 5 announcement and launch rumors. Now I am going to be completely honest and I have no idea what a “blackout is” but I do know that the current rumor is that the iPhone 5 is supposed to be announced sometime later this month and be on sale on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and possibly T-Mobile early October which fits in with this schedule. iPhone meet Sprint. Sprint meet iPhone.

Have Google Music? Great they just launched a new Web App For iOS!

Today Google has released a new web app for all iOS devices for their music streaming service or locker as some people like to call it. To get to the web app on your iOS device go to music.google.com and you will see the web app.  Please know that it is streaming only you cannot browse music catalogs, or upload music into the app.

Google lets you store 25MB of music in your device cache. Content is streamed from your uploaded music collection. When you open the app you can choose what you want to play and then you are taken to something like the window above.

Google Music is currently an invite service (like everything else Google Does) and is currently free for beta testers.

A 3G iPod Touch Sounds Magical

For as long as the iPod touch has been around there has always been rumors of Apple adding 3G support somewhat like they do with the current iPad 2 3G. This has never happened but now the rumor of it happening is up again and this time I think it could happen. You see people have been saying the iPod is dead. This may be somewhat true but remember the iPod touch has been for people who don’t want to pay per month. The iPod touch has been a great way to do this and now it could be you don’t need to pay by month if you don’t want to you can pay as you go and use iMessages for texts and Skype for calls instead of a pre-paid iPhone where you need texts and calls and all that stuff you don’t  by an iPod for. You buy an iPod touch for Games, Downloading music, Talking with friends, and for what I see most people use it for. THE WEB. Not texting not calling just using the web with their apps or safari. That’s why the 3G iPod touch is a good idea. Here is a statement posted on macrumors

After talking with multiple people over the past few weeks, we had a lengthy chat with one person who gave us great news about the next iPod Touch. We’ve used this person in the past, but they did qualify their remarks, saying that the iPod Touch changes should make it, but there’s no guarantee the changes will be ready for fall. The 3G iPod Touch idea intrigued us so much back in July, and we’ve been trying to find one of our contacts who can give some credence to the idea. A few have declined to comment, while others honestly have no idea, but the source for this report says that Apple is indeed working on a 3G iPod Touch. Apple is intent on announcing the device during their September event which they usually save for their iPod line, but will include the iPhone as well this year.

All and all I hope they have the options of 3G+wifi or Wifi only. We will see this month hopefully with the arrival of the iPhone 5 as well.

Fun Apps: Doodle OMG [Apps]

For what I do and where I am (a high school) I am always getting asked “Matt what are the best new and enjoyable apps out there?” Well I am going to start making a post every week around the end of the week but today is special. It is a really fun game! Full in depth view after the break!
