The iPhone 5s launched this morning and I was lucky to to get my hands on the device so I thought it would be a good idea to share some first impressions! Design
The design of the 5s is almost exactly the same. The only changes is the space gray in replacement of the back and addition of gold. The home button is yes changed to a circle where the fingerprint scanner or Touch ID is. Overall the space gray is very nice and it was the model I wanted.
The software of iOS 7 is 64bit for the iPhone 5s and trust me you can tell. With the advanced processor it flies running software better than ever before. As for iOS itself I love 7 and just not the safari icon.
The hardware is what this model is all about. The hardware of the 5s is what the phone is all about. The biggest change – Touch ID actually works very well if you calibrate it correctly. It recognizes mine and only mine so in terms of security it’s your best option – of course you also need a passcode with it. The processor is blazing fast and while apps right now don’t take advantage of the system’s 64 bit system but when they do it will be amazing. For the motion sensor I don’t know about it yet I haven’t tested it.
I cannot tell because I haven’t used it normally but I would say an improvement over the iPhone 5.
All iPhone 5 accessories work with the iPhone 5s. This year Apple gave us back the dock connector and even a bunch of leather cases, I got the red one which is pictured above. Overall the case is great to the touch and looks very nice I recommend getting one for an iPhone 5 or 5s because it fits both… Also it has an Apple logo!
Those are just some quick impressions. Were you able to grab an iPhone 5s today?
According to Nowhereelse.fr this is the new user guide for the iPhone 5s we are going to be seeing today at Apple’s keynote. The Touch ID would be the fingerprint scanner I talked about to unlock the device. All that’s left to do now is wait…
We are less than 24 hours away from Apple’s iPhone event and that calls for a rumor roundup. Instead of making a very long post on everything we have learned about what is going to be at the event I decided to make a video of everything we learned. My show notes are below but here comes some linkage for live blogs tomorrow and where I get some of my news.
One of the great theories of the iPhone 5S is that it is going to come with a fingerprint scanner inside the home button for better security of your phone. Recently a “leaked” box shows a newer home button with a ring around it. While no evidence says this is LED a designer made a mockup of the new iPhone 5S’s home button if the ring is an LED. All answers will be revealed in 2 days and I will have a rumor roundup video sometime soon.
Apple has made the iPhone event official sending our invites for the event on September 10th. The invite has colors representing the colorful iPhone 5C. The text says “this should brighten everyone’s day” so people will be happy about the new high end and low end models.
New high resolution images of what is supposed to be the entry level “budget” iPhone have appeared online. The photos show the exterior as being a plastic shell. The site claims that the plastic does seen to collect fingerprints easily but isn’t cheap. Other sites report the shell even though plastic is better than the Galaxy S4. The so called budget iPhone is expected alongside the iPhone 5s in many different colors.
